Unfortunately there is no way to stop the aging process at a certain point, however (and lucky for us) there are ways to prevent the aging of our skin!
Avoid excessive UV exposure
UV rays penetrate our skin and damage the elastin (an amino acid that is of key importance for healthy skin) fibers.
I'm not trying to convince you to live like a vampire and never see the sun again, but my advice is to avoid sun bathing between 10AM and 4PM - especially during summertime. If you decide to be out during these times, use a sun screen with at least 30 SPF. Also wide brimmed hats (fairly popular at the moment) can save you from quite a few wrinkles as well!
Smoking
We all know this one. And no, I'm not going to try and convince you to quit. I'll simply state the facts.
Smoking can effect blood circulation and blood flow to your face which prevents the delivery of all nutrients needed to your cells. However, I might add that I have in fact met many older people that have smoked their entire life and still have wonderful and youthful skin - genes can determine a lot!
Whats on your plate?
We've all heard "you are what you eat". In this case what you eat determines skin health.
There are tons of nutrients that your skin craves. Some of the most important are vitamins A, C and E, protein (collagen - amino acid), healthy fats, zinc and biotin. You can get all of these nutrients from eating enough veggies, fruits, nuts and fish. Vitamins are also a good way to get some of these, as well as Chia seeds because they contain many of the mentioned nutrients. Also, avoiding processed foods and GMO's can help as well.
On the t0pic of diet, also remember that water does wonders for your skin. In conclusion, drink lots and lots of water! It flushes away the toxins, helps blood circulation and many other benefits. Drink at least 6 glasses a day.
Relax!
Stress is a sure way to get wrinkles. Find a way to relieve your stress. For some people it's meditation, yoga, reading a good book or watching a good move, working out (what works for me), and many other methods. Maybe even going to the pet store to play with cute animals is what you need! Working out or any of the above methods (well except cuddling cute animals) also help with blood circulation and getting rid of toxins.
Wrinkle Cream
It's always best to go with a wrinkle cream that is more natural. Ingredients that you want your wrinkle cream to contain consist of retinol, soybean oil, shea butter, vitamins and minerals.
Just a retinol cream in general (such as acne cream prescribed by Dermatologists) can aid in the prevention of wrinkles.
